Kids yoga introduces children to movement, mindfulness, and self-awareness through play. Classes use storytelling, music, breathing exercises, and themed poses to engage young minds and keep bodies active. Unlike adult yoga, kids yoga emphasizes movement and self-expression, helping children build strength, balance, focus, and confidence while supporting emotional regulation and resilience. It can be practiced at home, in schools, or studios, and is adaptable to any environment or ability level.
Tailoring the approach for different age groups is key. For preschoolers (ages 3–5), short, imaginative sessions with repetition and visual cues work best, using animal sounds and songs. School-aged children (6–9) enjoy interactive games, partner poses, and creative activities like designing their own flow. Tweens (10–12) benefit from structured sequences, longer holds, and mindfulness and journaling. Across all ages, maintaining a supportive tone and offering encouragement creates a safe space for exploration and expression through yoga.
